A week ago I was blessed to put together an amazing photo shoot with my friend and fellow creative Tambi Lane. We compliment each other so well that these shoots are fairly effortless. Well, I did probably spend about 80 hours getting ready, but thrifting and junking are not exactly hard work for me. The idea behind the shoot was to showcase my vintage goodness as well as Tambi's amazing ability to capture a moment. I asked my beautiful niece Megan to be the model. I knew she would be perfect as she is a bohemian beauty who loves animals and sequins the same. I wanted her boyfriend Jason to be in the shoot as well but he was reluctant. As luck would have it, Jason asked me to go ring shopping for Megan only four days before the shoot. While browsing for the perfect engagement ring I mentioned what an amazing opportunity he had to propose while the photo shoot was in progress. A light bulb went off and he agreed! We were able to pull off a pretty big surprise for Megan with the bonus that all of her out of town family were able to feel like they were part of it while viewing the video. Watch and cry, everyone does!
Jason and Megan are a sweet couple who love a simple life and each other immensely. I loved putting this together and adding all of the touches that made it true to who they are. Penny the chicken is a beloved pet and she stole the show. Gilbert the pig did not make it into the photos because he was a tad bit grumpy that day (even after five beers...yes it helps him mellow!) I cannot wait to see the finished photos and I hope you enjoy the video.
Have you checked out Kate Spade's newest conceptual shoot. How amazing are all these vintage wares. It has me so inspired for my upcoming photo shoot to showcase FEATHER & FLEA.
I have two of these black and white spotted Louis chairs that are painted gold. I love black and white as a background for gorgeous pops of color. I can totally see a bride and groom sitting in them while hearing toasts from their guests. I love these chairs so much they may stay at my house and not make it down to the Feather & Flea studio. *sigh*
Here is some inspiration for a black and white {with pops of color} wedding. How sweet did they make this Halloween wedding? I think they only thing missing were my two Louis Chairs....
Before I had even considered doing vintage rentals I was fortunate enough to work with a phenomenal photographer here in Bend Oregon{Tambi Lane} who let me have full reign to style an editorial shoot. At the last minute I ended up being the model and let me tell you...I did not enjoy that nearly as much as creating this vintage mid-century set.
Everything you see in the shoot beside the VW is for rent from FEATHER & FLEA Vintage Rentals.
